Militant of left-wing parties, he fought in the Spanish Civil War on the republican side. Captured during the military conflict, he managed to escape and flee to France. In Paris, he registered as a political refugee, presenting himself with the endorsement of Julio Just, a Valencian member of the Izquierda Republicana.
In 1964 he traveled to China with the purpose of teaching Spanish to the new generations of Maoism. He began working at the school attached to the Beijing Foreign Language Institute, now Beijing Foreign Studies University. In 1966 he became involved in the Cultural Revolution.
Sixteen years after arriving in Asia in 1980, he left that country and went to Malaga to live with a daughter he had. The following year he received the order of Afonso X the Wise for his pedagogical merits, and he wanted to return to China, but they no longer allowed him[2]. He soon broke off relations with his daughter and moved to Madrid, but with great personal and financial difficulties he probably committed suicide in that city with a shot
